06 April, 2014

BRADENTON, Fla. (April 9, 2014) - The IMG Junior Golf Tour returned to action for its first spring event in the Northeast at Heron Glen Golf Club in Ringoes N.J., April 5-6. The springtime conditions attracted a field of 78 players from four states. A tight race in the Boys 15-18 division came down to local standout Dylan Stein of Flemington, N.J. and Brent Ito of Ardsley, N.Y. Stein carded a 75 (+3) in spite of steady 30mph winds; one-stroke better than Ito (+4). Stein double-bogeyed the final hole, but that single stroke lead from the day before would be the difference as he held on  to win the Boys 15-18 division with his six

-over 150.

“Wind during round one was brutal, and Sunday could have been better but I held on and happy to get the win,” remarked Stein on his performance through challenging conditions. “My putter really saved me a lot of strokes this weekend.”

Stein is establishing a track record of performing at his best through tough conditions. Stein previously finished second amid similarly windy conditions in his only other IMG Junior Golf Tour start at the ALINE System Junior Open at Wyncote Golf Club in October 2013.

Meanwhile in the Girls 15-18 division, University of Notre Dame commit Isabella DiLisio, ranked No. 58 in the nation in the Golfweek Junior Rankings, simply dominated her division. DiLisio got off to a slow start with an 80 on Saturday, but came back on the final day with the low round in her division to wrap up a nine-stroke win with a two day nine-over 153 total.

“Saturday was a struggle with the wind, but I was able to make a few more putts today,” said DiLisio on Sunday after her win. “It has been a tough winter, so I’ve just been hitting into nets a lot, so the short game is tough to get back.”

Meanwhile, the Boys 11-14 division was determined after a three-hole sudden death playoff as Alex Chin of Chatham, N.J. bested Nathan Han of Somers, N.Y. The win marked Chin’s third Tour win in six starts this season.

Notably, in the Girls 15-18 division, Jessica Barry of Chatham, N.J. aced the fifth hole on Sunday with a hole-in-one.

The event was held at Heron Glen Golf Course, a Kemper Sports managed facility, recognizes as one of the top public courses in New Jersey. The event was ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard and AJGA Performance Based Entry Status was awarded to top finishers in the Boys and Girls 15-18 divisions. The IMG Junior Golf Tour returns to action at Galloping Hills Golf Club in Kenilworth, N.J., Apr. 26-27.
