(October 1, 2013) - A full field of players from four states met on the links of High Bridge Hills Golf Club in High Bridge, N.J. for the IMG Junior Golf Tour’s Northeast Kickoff.  The Boys 15-18 division kicked off the northeast events with a duel between Tim Rotermund of Madison, Conn., and Andrew Bowyer of Summit, N.J., who entered Sunday tied at even-par 71. Rotermund and Bowyer battled back and forth all day, with Rotermund going down two-strokes with two to play. Rotermund birdied on 17, while Bowyer bogeyed 18 to force a playoff. The playoff took three holes to decide an outcome, with Rotermund taking the win just as the sun set.

“I hit a great wedge into 17, and figured I might as well go for it since I was two down with two to play,” remarked Rotermund after the win. “I was very nervous over the last putt but just very thankful that I came out with a win.”

Jimmy Criscione of Paramus, N.J. and John Felitto of Moutainside, N.J. finished tied at nine-over 153 for third place in the Boys 15-18 division.

Meanwhile, Anina Ku of Basking Ridge, N.J., who only just turned 13-years old in August, won the Girls 15-18 division by four strokes with an impressive three-over 145 performance. A member of the Class of 2018, Ku is already ranked No. 121 overall in the Golfweek/Sagarin Junior Rankings.

Other winners included 12-year old Jack Wall of Brielle, N.J., who carded an eight-over 150 in the Boys 11-14 division for a four-stroke victory. In the Girls 11-14 division, 12-year old Madeline Jin of Belle Mead, N.J. turned in solid rounds of 82, 81 for a seven-stroke win.

The Northeast Kickoff was a nationally-ranked event recognized by Golfweek/Sagarin Junior Rankings and Junior Golf Scoreboard. It was the second of 18 events this season, which runs through May 2014, and the first of five to be held in the northeast region this season. AJGA Performance Based Entry was awarded to the top-five boys, and the girls champion in the 15-18 divisions. The IMG Junior Golf Tour returns to action for a second consecutive weekend in the Northeast at Berkshire Valley Golf Club in Jefferson Township, N.J., Oct. 5-6. .
