Black Diamond Ranch set to host 2014 Tour Championship

Tour Championship at Tom Fazio-designed Black Diamond Ranch Quarry Course, May 16-18

BRADENTON, Fla. (March 12, 2014) - The IMG Junior Golf Tour’s 18-event schedule will wind down at the memorable Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto, Fla., May 16-18. The event will be played on the famed Quarry Course, designed by one of the world’s most respected golf course architects, Tom Fazio. Of the more than 180 courses Fazio has designed, he ranks the Quarry Course among his favorites and Golfweek ranks it as a Top-100 Modern Course in the United States. This year’s Tour Championship will feature 90 players, and the entry criteria is basely primarily on season points standings.Black Diamond Ranch - Quarry Course

“This is a truly outstanding, nationally acclaimed venue that has a great track record for hosting championship events,” said Andrew Parr, Tournament Director, IMG Junior Golf Tour. “We couldn’t be more excited to have 90 promising players that have earned a spot in this field compete on this stage.”

Practice rounds for the Tour Championship will take place the afternoon of Friday, May 16. The event entry fee includes: practice round; tournament rounds; a seat at the Championship banquet; and gifts from Tour sponsor Under Armour. The Championship banquet will take place at Black Diamond Ranch on Saturday, May 17 at 7:00 p.m. Players of the Year will be crowned at the Awards Presentation on Sunday following play.

In its short history, the Tour Championship has been held at some of the best venues the state of Florida has to offer, including: the Ritz-Carlton Members Golf Club (2011); Concession Golf Club (2012); and Celebration Golf Club (2013). This year’s Tour Championship will offer elevated AJGA Performance Based Entry, with the Boys and Girls 15-18 champions receiving eight performance stars. In the Boys 15-18 division, the second through fifth place finishers will receive four performance stars, while the runner-up and third place finisher in Girls 15-18 division will receive one star each based on minimum required tournament field levels. The event will be ranked by the Golfweek/Sagarin Junior Rankings and Junior Golf Scoreboard.

 

Past Tour Championship winners include current LPGA Tour player Kelly Tan, as well as current Division I collegiate players Keagan Cummings (North Carolina), Jordan Lippetz (Princeton), and Hadas Libman (Baylor). 

 

How to apply: The field for the Tour Championship is determined based on entry criteria detailed on the tournament web site. In order to be considered for the event, please email IMGJuniorGolfTour@img.com or call 866-373-0170 by Thursday, April 10. Once all requests are in, the field will be determined based on the selection criteria, and participants will be informed via e-mail of their acceptance into the event. Online registration for accepted players will be open Beginning Friday, April 11
