SAVANNAH, Ga. (February 17, 2014) - For the third consecutive year, the IMG Jun
ior Golf Tour teed off at The Club at Savannah Harbor in Savannah, Ga., Feb. 15-16. Tough playing conditions through the weekend made scoring a challenge, with wind gusts reaching as high as 35 mph on Saturday. The conditions did not deter a field of 78 players from 10 states and 12 countries from taking on the renowned course, however. In the Boys 15-18 division, Will Miles of Hilton Head, S.C. finished with a four-over 148 for a commanding seven stroke win. Miles capped off his performance with a round of 72 (E) after a hard fought four-over 76 in brutal conditions the day before. Miles, a member of the Class of 2015, is committed to play collegiately for the University of South Carolina.
"It was very tough out there; I don't usually play in anything like that,” remarked Miles after the win. “"It was a battle, but I birdied 14 which really helped me, and I putted really well overall."
Meanwhile, 14-year old Jaravee Boonchant continued her dominant season in the Girls 15-18 division by winning her fourth event in seven starts. The native of Thailand finished with a four-over 148 to round out a six-stroke victory. With the win, Boonchant now has a comfortable 305-point lead in the Girls Player of the Year standings.
Other winners included Jack Wall of Brielle, N.J. who won his second event of the season in the Boys 11-14 division with solid scores of 78, 82.
